Time to celebrate...

It’s your wedding day and it’s time to celebrate in style. But, what do you offer your guests to drink? Firstly - and most importantly – it’s your big day and you make the rules. Of course, your budget and the size and age range of your guest list will have an impact too.

You may like to offer your guests a drink once the ceremony is over and people start to mingle whilst the photographer is hard at work. Perhaps best to keep it simple – and maybe nothing too strong if there’s a long day ahead! So, why not offer low alcohol wine or beer and some jugs of fruit juice and other soft drinks.

As for the Reception, once again it’s your day, so do it your way! If you’ve opted for a sit-down dinner, then wine is probably the most traditional choice whether bottles are provided on the table or served by waiting staff. Remember, though that some people may prefer a beer and of course soft drinks should be available too for those who don’t want alcohol. For the toasts, of course, it’s traditional for everyone to raise a glass of fizz to the bride and groom. But it’s up to you (and your budget) whether you choose champagne or sparkling wine, or even sparkling cider or fruit juice.

Here’s a few other ideas that may help spark your imagination to make your day very special ….

  • For a summer wedding – how about filling an old metal bathtub with ice and bottled drinks for your guests.

  • For real drama – create a Champagne Tower with a bottle of bubby poured over a pyramid of stacked champagne saucers.

  • How about a huge Punch Bowl – you choose what to fill it with!

  • Try jugs of Pimms filled with fruit or iced tea served in tall glasses and infused with fruit or herbs.
